Did you ever know that the great Byzantine Empire was mostly known for its famous rules? Taxes were very low. Laws were well established, and government was perfectly organized.
The Byzantine economy was one of the greatest ones in many centuries. The Eastern Roman Empire had the most powerful economy in the world. From the 10th century to the 12th, Byzantine had the most luxurious economy. Constantinople was the main part of trading which at various times spread to most of Europe and Asia as well as North Africa.
The main part of the Economy during the Byzantine times was trade. A really big part of trade was grain and silk which were two of the most important items for the empire. The demand for grain was really high since it was really valued by the people earlier. Silk was really high in trade as well since it also meant payment and diplomacy. Raw silk was brought from china but in Constantinople, raw silk merchants could buy the silk from outside of Constantinople but did not have the authority to travel and get it themselves.
